Joan Ragland is the Instructional Technology Specialist for Hudson ISD. She began her teaching career in the fall of 1971 as a self-contained 7th grade teacher at Apple Springs ISD. In 1977, she joined the faculty at Hudson Middle School as the 7th Grade Science teacher. During her tenure at Hudson she has taught Life Science, Math, Integrated Studies and served as the Science & Social Studies Curriculum Specialist until her current position as Instructional Technology Specialist for the District.

Jill Walker Rettberg is Professor of Digital Culture at the University of Bergen, where she leads the ERC project Machine Vision in Everyday Life: Playful Interactions with Visual Technologies in Digital Art, Games, Narratives and Social Media (2018-23). Her latest book is Seeing Ourselves Through Technology: How We Use Selfies, Blogs and Wearable Devices to See and Shape Ourselves, which is available in print from Palgrave or as a free digital download. Her earlier work is on hypertext fiction, blogging, electronic literature and digital art.

Miriam Romais is the News Literacy Project’s senior manager of educator engagement, combining her experience as a leader in the nonprofit world with a lifelong commitment to advocating for equity, education and visual literacy.

She received a certification in media literacy in 2021 from Palavra Aberta’s EducaMídia program in São Paulo, Brazil. Before joining NLP in 2018, she worked with the Center for Photography at Woodstock in Woodstock, New York, and spent more than two decades at En Foco Inc., a nonprofit in the Bronx, New York, supporting photographers of Latinx, African and Asian heritage and Native Peoples of the Americas and Pacific. There, she created workshops, exhibitions and grant opportunities for hundreds of artists and served as executive director from 2005 to 2014. Dan joined the Foundation for Jewish Camp in October 2014 and is excited to be a part of the New Camp Initiatives team and FJC as a whole. As program assistant, some of the programs Dan works on are the Specialty Camps Incubator and the annual JData Camp Census. A Long Island native, Dan graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2013 with a BA in Anthropology and minors in Linguistics and Classical Civilization. After spending a year in a graduate anthropology program, he decided to leave the field and move back to the New York City area to pursue work in the nonprofit sector.

An alumnus of Surprise Lake Camp, Dan has spent two summers working at Camp Ramah in Nyack as a counselor and two as a counselor and then unit head at Camp Centerland at the Jewish Community Center in Buffalo, New York.
